Memorial Day Rendezvous - 2011

May 26 - 30, 2011. On the Sailing Vessel (S.V.) Eureka! (Jeanneau 49') we spent Thursday evening at dock at the St. Francis Yacht Club. Friday at 0'dark thirty we headed out the gate with 14 other boats. We made it safely to our mooring ball at Capitola at 16:00 and a cocktail party ensued. On Saturday, the majority of the boats decided to head to Half Moon Bay because of predicted weather. We decided to roll the dice and take our chances. We lunched in Still Water Cove with three other boats. It was stunning. We had a delightful sail back to the mooring in Capitola and an enjoyable evening being lulled to sleep by the gentle swell. The trip north on Sunday was pretty brutal but we took our licks and learned some valuable lessons. We had a nice dinner at Half Moon Bay Yacht Club and welcomed the last of the boats that made the trip just after 22:00. The sail home on Monday was a lovely light wind spinnaker run through the Gate to help remind us how wonderful it is to sail in the San Francisco Bay. It was a great trip with a great group of hearty sailors! 'Till next time...!
