Burt
Burt's story is fairly similar to Bill Knight's, the Base Manager of Club Nautique's Alameda location, since Burt does officially belong to Bill. Burt was a stray adopted by Bill back in 1993. One day Bill brought Burt to work with him when he was the service manager at Alameda. Nobody complained and Burt seemed to enjoy hanging out on the docks and greeting all the charterers so he has been coming to work every day with Bill ever since. Now Burt is a regular fixture in Alameda.
Burt enjoys hanging out on the docks and sunning himself on the deck in the summer. Hump days have to be Burt's favorite event. Actually, any Club Nautique event were there is food served is Burt's favorite event. So when you come by Alameda Burt will be here laying on the couch or taking a nap on the deck waiting for any piece of food that happens to come his way.
Sadly, Burt, Bill's faithful companion and our Alameda clubhouse mascot, had to be put down in early March of 2008. He led a good long life and was great company to all who were lucky enough to know him. He was especially interested in you if had food, perhaps smelled like food or had recently been in the vacinity food. Ah yes, he was indeed a chow hound. But more than that he was a constant presence and guardian angel to our Alameda location. Always a steady kind soul. Even at the ripe age of 14 he had a sparkle in his eye and joy in his stride. We will miss him.
