Doug Perry
Doug Perry began sailing 14' dinghies in 1967. Having read a few books about racing and feeling he knew how to sail, he decided to race against some other similar boats. He was left in their wake and realized there was more to it than he knew. So he joined a sailing club and started racing in earnest, filling his locker with a variety of trophies over the years. He graduated to keel boats in the early '80s and ocean racing a few years later. A Club Nautique instructor since 1997, he quickly found that he relished teaching others how to enjoy his favorite sport. Doug believes that, "Because you have to pay attention to the boat at all times, it's a great way to get away from the pressures of your work, without losing the energy edge."
