Dan Haynes
Dan has been a Club Nautique instructor since 2002. His first sail was aboard a dinghy on a small lake in Florida while in the Navy. From there he sailed every boat he could get his hands on. He bought a 22 ft sailboat that he sailed down the East Coast from Rhode Island to Florida after leaving the Navy. From there he returned home to California towing his boat behind him.
Since then he's cruised and/or raced on San Francisco Bay, the Pacific Coast from Canada to Mexico and Hawaii. Dan began teaching sailing in the early 80's before formal certification programs were established. He believes US SAILING certification has been a benefit to both students and instructors. It sets standards to which both must aspire and assures uniformity of instruction. He is a certified US SAILING Instructor and also holds a US Coast Guard 100 ton Masters License.
