George Fay
George started sailing in 1982 as racing crew on Olsons, Etchells, Js, Davidsons and various other boats, competing both inside San Francisco Bay and up and down the coast. In the 1990s, he began sailing commercially on launches, tugboats, brigantines, and other large boats. George further expanded his sailing horizons by doing passages from Hong Kong to Manila, Kauai to San Francisco, Ft. Lauderdale to the British Virgins, San Francisco to Puerto Vallarta (good) and back (bad), and across the English Channel. He also enjoyed four months as first mate on a charter boat in the BVIs and did some cruising in Desolation Sound up in British Columbia.
George began his teaching career in the early 1990s as a volunteer instructor for the Sea Scouts. By this time he knew he enjoyed sailing in all its forms, cruising, racing, and instructing, so he got his 100 ton USCG License and started teaching for Club Nautique in 1999. He's been a popular and welcome addition to our staff. So come on over, sign up for lessons and let George show you how much fun sailing can be.
