Memorial Day Cruise to Santa Cruz & Half Moon Bay

You're invited! Join us as we jump start summer, on our annual jaunt to Santa Cruz & Half Moon Bay for Memorial Day weekend! What a fantastic way to enjoy the California Coast! We'll be headed down "flotilla style" with a group of 20 - 25 boats from Club Nautique as well as gaggle of salty crew from Cruising Yachts. This is one of our most popular events of the year so you won't want to miss out!
Itinerary
Thursday, May 21
Board boats in the evening and pre-cruise for early departure.
Friday, May 22 -
- Catch the early morning ebb out the Golden Gate
- Enjoy the cruise south to Santa Cruz
- Arrival & tie up in Santa Cruz - berths are reserved in advance
- Beach Party! The beer's on us. Bring hors d'oeuvres to share
- Dinner (if you're still hungry) on your own
Saturday, May 23
Daytime: Free day for you to spend enjoying the many activities available in Santa Cruz. Here's just a sampling:
- Beach Boardwalk - just 1/2 mile walk away
- Lay on the beach, play vollyball, surf, swim
- Visit Santa Cruz boutiques, 50+ restaurants, cafes, clubs, etc.
- Ride a bike, take a walk
- Relax, read a book, take a nap, boat hop, socialize
Evening: We had such a good time last year so we are returning to Nicholson Vineyards for another evening of wine tasting & a delicious barbecued dinner. Transportation will be provided leaving from the Santa Cruz marina parking lot. This event is optional. Cost: $55 per person. Reserve early as space is limited.
Sunday, May 24
- Rise early & set your course for Half Moon Bay
- Tie up at Pillar Point Yacht Harbor
- Cocktails at Half Moon Bay Yacht Club
- Are You Smarter Than An Old Salt? contest
- Dinner at the club or on your own
Monday, May 25
If home port is San Francisco Bay, cast off in time to catch the flood tide (max flood at Golden Gate: 1211 at 4.5 knots). Enjoy the ride & start making plans for our next cruise to Petaluma, August 7-9.
Options
Join a list of those interested and we'll get chartershares together. CPM certified skippers will assume skipper duties. We recommend that you have had some open sea experience as it's a whole different ball of wax out there!
All participants will be asked to split charter cost, provisioning and berthing fees.
Approximate cost will depend on how many people you want on your boat. For a member to charter a 36' to 41' ocean rated vessel weekend ranges from $1562 - $2024. Depending on the size of boat that you would like to charter cost will vary. We'll do our best to see that everyone is comfortable with their accommodations.
