Beginning Visual Navigation
This one day clinic provides you with practical on the water experience using visual navigation and piloting. The skills practiced include interpreting and relating what you see underway to the local charts, using the installed compass and hand bearing compass to take lines of positions, taking and using danger bearings and taking two and three lines of position fixes. You will also practice advancing dead reckoning positions and estimated positions. The clinic is a great opportunity to develop and tune your navigation and piloting skills.
This clinic is intended for those who have or are completing cruising courses: Basic Cruising or Bare Boat Cruising. The clinic stays with the basics allowing you to practice skills and procedures needed prior to moving on to more advanced procedures. In conjunction with the Radar clinic, this provides skippers and navigators a great foundation to go on to the Coastal Navigation class or navigating on the Bay or offshore.
