Coastal Passage Making Prep Charter Share
This is an opportunity to hone in on all of your sailing skills from Docking to Navigation and everything in between. Great for that weeks in between CPM classes to get out and practice with other sailors without the instructor looking over your shoulder. Whether your a grad or student or just thinking about the cpm program the practice is fantastic.
Each session will be geared towards a particular activity.
Weekly Topics
CPM Practice Motor (CPMP MOTOR)
Docking and close quarters maneuvering.
Includes the three escapes: back and fills, three point turns and backing into the wind. Also includes docking and line handling.
CPM Practice Sailing (CPMP SAIL)
Practice sail trim, reefing, heaving-to and stopping the boat in irons.
Also includes wind awareness, points of sail and sail balance.
CPM Practice COB (CPMP COB)
Practice COB drills, Figure-8, Quick-Stop and Lifesling.
Focus on honing your techniques and stopping the boat for the pickup.
CPM Practice - Anchoring 1 (CPMP ANCH1)
Practice anchoring and knots.
Each crew member rotates around the various positions, from skipper to crew. Focus on hand signals, proper scope, safety, and setting the anchor.
CPM Practice Anchoring 2 (CPMP ANCH2)
Double Anchor off the bow, bow and stern anchor, trip lines, bearings, set up an anchor watch.
CPM Practice Navigation
Log keeping, plotting, swinging the compass, fixes, running the mile.
Specifics
- Each session is a half-day, Friday afternoon or Saturday mornings and Saturday afternoons.
- Friday sessions 1300 - 1800 during winter months (longer as the days stretch out).
- Saturday Morning sessions 0830 - 1230
- Saturday Afternoon sessions 1330 - 1800
- 2-5 students per boat
- Instruction Tip sheets are given out prior to each session.
- Price per session: Member - $115.00 member / Non-member - $150.00
- If both morning and afternoon sessions are taken in same day price per person: Member - $200 member / Non-member - $270
Notes
- All students must have a minimum of BBC Certification.
