As a native Californian, Paul has spent most of his life near the water, starting to sail in Southern California in his early teens. As a Sea Explorer Scout in Newport Beach, he was responsible for maintaining the GM 671 diesel on the troop’s 40 ft ex-Navy motor launch. Paul spent the next 20 years occasionally crewing on sailboats on the SF Bay before becoming a ski boat owner in the early 90s, teaching his kids how to ski and wakeboard and safely operate power boats.

Maybe you have been sailing with Paul on a Hump Day on his boat, Bear Boat. “I enjoy sailing with club members on Wednesday nights, many times running mini clinics on sail trim or spinnaker sailing and just enjoying being out on the water. Getting my USCG Master’s license and starting to teach sailing was the next logical step for me.”

Beside maintaining and sailing Bear Boat, Paul crews during the racing season for Fleet Manager, Jerry Nassoiy on his boat, Mon Desir.
