USS Hornet Tour

February 24 @ 10:00 - 13:00

USS Hornet Exterior

History buffs: What displaces over 27,000 tons, is nearly 3 football fields long, once hosted space men, and is gray all over? Why, the USS Hornet, of course. “CV12”, the 8th in a line of warships dating back to 1775, is now a museum ship currently floating in Alameda.

Our own US Navy Veteran, Captain Mike, has arranged for a guided tour of this amazing piece of nautical and naval history. Come with us and marvel at the size and majesty of an Aircraft Carrier. Learn of the ship and crew from our tour guide, who may very well have served aboard her, and then enjoy lunch in the Officer’s Wardroom aboard the ship.

If you’ve never been aboard a US Naval Vessel, this is a wonderful opportunity to see what life was like for those young mariners who served aboard these ships thousands of miles away from home for months and years at a time.

Date: Saturday, February 24, 0945.

Event: 2 hour guided tour from 10:00 to 12:00, then lunch aboard, and then you can wander the ship on your own if you like.

Where: Meet at the Big Anchor in the USS Hornet parking lot (plenty of room), just have your nav system take you to the “USS Hornet”. It’s about 10 minutes from our Alameda Base.

Time: Arrive by 0945. Please plan to arrive on time as we will not be able to delay the tour to wait for somebody.

Registration Fee: $40. Includes lunch aboard. Paid at sign up

Max Participants: 25
