Heavy Weather Sailing Seminar
During this 4 hour seminar we’ll spend time discussing how to recognize and when possible avoid storms and heavy weather at sea. However the majority of the day will be devoted to how to minimize the effects of a storm on your boat and just as importantly, its negative effects on your crew. Through extensive hand outs and powerpoint presentations your experienced instructor will walk you through the dos and don’ts of Heavy Weather Sailing.
Your US SAILING Certified Coastal Passagemaking Instructor, Kay-John Kavanaugh, hails from Germany and has a broad range of experience sailing the North, Baltic, and Mediterranean Seas, as well as Florida, the Bahamas, and West Coast of the U.S. He is a German Sailing Association certified sailing instructor and German Government licensed boat captain. Some of the heavy weather boat preparation and boat handling tactics covered in the clinic come from his first hand experience while sailing the Baltic and North Seas in heavy weather conditions..
