Bay Model Tour
Cost: Free for members, suggested $25 per person donation to the Bay Model
This is a unique chance to get a fully guided tour of the famous San Francisco Bay Model while we still can. The only qualified guide will be retiring 10 days after our tour.
Covering 1.5 acres under a single roof, the Bay Model reproduces, on demand, the water flow of the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta including ship channels, rivers, creeks, sloughs, the canals, major wharfs, piers, slips, dikes, bridges, and breakwaters.
The building that houses the model also features a presentation of MARINSHIP, the program that was established to build the renowned Liberty Ships and oil tankers that plied the Pacific during WWII. The CN base in Sausalito now occupies a small piece of land that was once part of the Marinship complex.
